Project Implementation Unit

The Project Implementation Unit for the construction of the BiH Centre for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures (JIP) was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH and began operating on 1 February 2011.

The unit is the operational body responsible for implementing the construction of the Centre for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The establishment and functioning of the Project Implementation Unit is one of the obligations that BiH undertook by signing the Framework Financial Agreement between the Council of Europe Development Bank and BiH.

The Ministry of Justice of BiH, in cooperation with donors and the creditor who closely monitor this project and the fulfilment of transparency and efficiency standards, supervises the work of the Unit, both directly and through the Management Board and the Supervisory Board. The Governing Board and the Supervisory Board are composed of representatives of the state Ministry of Justice and of finance and treasury, as well as of the entity ministries of justice appointed by the Council of Ministers of BiH. The Supervisory Board primarily monitors the use of financial resources.
